Company Secretarial

Extension of time to file late annual returns under the Companies Act 2014
The Companies Act 2014 came into effect on 1 June 2015. This comprehensive piece of legislation is the largest reform of company law the state has seen in half century. If your company meets certain criteria an audit exemption may be an option. The most important requirement for audit exemption eligibility is for your company to file its annual returns on time every year. Under the Act this includes the Companys first annual return.

If your company has missed, or the Directors know that it will miss the deadline for filing its Annual Return with the Companies Registration Office, there is an option (provided it meets certain criteria) to make an application to the District Court for an Order to extend the time for delivery of its annual return. Directors and Secretaries have increased responsibilities and in that context we provide specialist advice on how to comply with the legislation, extend the time required to bring the company up to date, secure audit exemption and ultimately save on late filing fees and penalties.

When considering what route to take in order to make your company compliant please contact our Ballinasloe and Loughrea offices where we would be happy to provide you with information on our specialist service.
